Rare in-house litigation opportunity within a leading financial services business. Your new company
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced litigation lawyer to join the legal team of a leading global financial services organisation on a 12-month contract.Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will play a key role in managing significant disputes, litigation and regulatory matters across Australia and New Zealand. This position offers a rare opportunity to move in-house while maintaining a strong disputes focus, working closely with senior stakeholders and external counsel on matters that have a direct impact on the business. The role will see you:

• Managing and strategically advising on commercial disputes and litigation matters
• Working closely with regulators and responding to regulatory enquiries
• Briefing and managing external counsel
• Identifying, assessing and escalating legal risks
• Advising on matters arising under financial services legislation, including the Corporations Act
• Supporting the wider business with legal and regulatory issues as required
• Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to a high-performing legal team

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced litigation lawyer with approximately 9+ years' post-admission experience, ideally gained within a leading law firm, financial institution or regulatory environment.
You will bring:

• Strong commercial litigation experience
• Exposure to financial services, banking, insurance or regulatory disputes
• Experience dealing with complex regulatory frameworks and the Corporations Act
• Experience gained at a reputable firm and/or similar in-house role
• The ability to provide commercially pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong judgement, initiative and problem-solving capabilities
