Description
Established Southeast Michigan boutique law firm seeks an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to support attorneys handling commercial litigation and other sophisticated legal matters.
The Legal Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and litigation support to the firm’s attorneys, with responsibilities including:
Preparing and electronically filing pleadings, motions, and other court documents;
Maintaining litigation calendars and monitoring court dates, filing deadlines, and other important dates;
Coordinating service of pleadings, discovery materials, and other legal documents;
Organizing and maintaining electronic and physical case files;
Assisting with correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and other document preparation;
Communicating professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties;
Assisting attorneys with the organization and management of active litigation matters; and
Providing general administrative and legal support as needed.

Requirements
Candidates should possess:
Prior experience working in a law firm or comparable legal environment.
Hands-on experience supporting commercial litigation matters.
Familiarity with Michigan state court procedures and electronic filing systems.
Experience preparing and filing pleadings and other court documents.
Ability to maintain litigation calendars, monitor deadlines, and coordinate service and discovery materials.
Strong organizational skills and careful attention to filing requirements, deadlines, document formatting, and detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally with clients, courts, attorneys, and other parties.
Ability to organize and manage multiple matters and priorities effectively.
Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, anticipate attorneys’ needs, and perform effectively without constant supervision.
Experience with federal court filing procedures is highly desirable.
